THERMAGE FLX IN LEEDS
Thermage FLX
Non-surgical skin tightening for the face, eyes, neck and body, in a single treatment.
Thermage FLX uses radiofrequency to tighten the skin you already have and to build new collagen over the months that follow. We offer Thermage FLX in Leeds for jowls and a softening jawline, loose skin on the neck, hooded or tired-looking eyes, and crepey skin on the stomach, arms, knees and hands.
There are no needles and no incisions, and most people go straight back to their day. One treatment is usually all it takes. The results build gradually over two to six months and typically last one to two years.
Every treatment is carried out by a medically trained practitioner, and every course begins with a consultation. If we think Thermage is not the right treatment for what is bothering you, we will say so and suggest what is.

How Thermage FLX works
Collagen is the scaffolding that holds the skin firm. From our thirties onwards we make less of it, and what remains loosens. This is why cheeks drift downwards, the jawline softens and the skin on the neck and eyelids starts to crease.
Thermage FLX heats the deep, collagen-rich layer of the skin with radiofrequency energy while cooling the surface. The heat makes the existing collagen fibres contract, which tightens the skin on the day. It also sets off a repair response, and over the following two to six months the skin lays down fresh collagen. That is where the lift comes from.
The FLX system measures the skin and adjusts the energy with every pulse, so the whole area is treated evenly. Vibration and bursts of cooling in the handpiece make it noticeably more comfortable than earlier versions of Thermage, and a larger treatment tip means a full face takes around 45 minutes.

Thermage FLX at Park Square Clinic, Leeds
Thermage has been used in clinics since 2002, and the FLX is its fourth generation. It is the version we chose for Park Square Clinic because it treats the eyes, face and body with one device, it does so in a single session, and it is suitable for all skin types and tones.
We use it for people who have noticed their face slipping rather than ageing all at once: a jawline that has lost its edge, heaviness around the mouth, eyelids that feel heavier than they used to, or a neck that no longer matches the face. It also helps with loose skin on the body after pregnancy or weight loss, where diet and exercise can only do so much.
What to expect at your appointment
Your practitioner will cleanse the skin and mark out the treatment area with a temporary grid, then work across it with the treatment tip. With each pulse you will feel a brief cooling, a short deep heat and then cooling again. The heat is the treatment working, and you will be asked throughout how it feels so the level can be adjusted. Allow around 30 minutes for the eyes, 45 to 60 minutes for the face and up to 90 minutes for the body. Afterwards you can drive, work and wear make-up. We ask only that you wear SPF.

FAQs
FAQs
- What is Thermage FLX?
Thermage FLX is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment that uses radiofrequency to heat the deep layers of the skin. The heat tightens the collagen you already have straight away and prompts the skin to produce new collagen over the following months. It is the fourth generation of Thermage, which has been used in clinics since 2002.
- Does Thermage FLX hurt?
You will feel a brief, deep heat with each pulse, followed by cooling. The FLX handpiece vibrates and cools the skin between pulses, which takes the edge off, and your practitioner will check the level with you throughout and adjust it. Most people describe it as hot rather than painful, and some areas, such as the jawline, feel warmer than others. Numbing cream is not usually needed.
- How many treatments will I need?
One. Thermage FLX is designed as a single treatment, and most people have one session per area. Some choose to repeat it every one to two years to maintain the result.
- How long does the treatment take?
Around 30 minutes for the eyes, 45 to 60 minutes for the full face and up to 90 minutes for larger areas of the body. Allow a little extra for marking up the area and going through aftercare.
- When will I see results?
Some tightening is visible on the day as the existing collagen contracts. The main change comes from new collagen, which builds gradually, and most people see the full effect between two and six months after treatment. Results vary from person to person.
- How long does Thermage FLX last?
Typically one to two years, depending on your age, your skin and how it continues to age. Thermage does not stop the ageing process; it sets the skin back and gives it a firmer base to age from. Many patients return once a year to keep the result.
- Is there any downtime?
Little to none. The skin may be pink and slightly swollen for a few hours, occasionally for a day or two. You can drive, work and wear make-up straight away. There is no need to avoid the sun, though we ask you to wear SPF every day.
- Who is Thermage FLX suitable for?
It suits all skin types and tones and works best for mild to moderate loosening of the skin, typically from the mid-thirties onwards. It is not suitable if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electrical device, or if you are pregnant, and we will ask about any recent dermal filler before treating over it. Your consultation includes a medical check so that we can confirm it is right for you.
- How is Thermage different from other skin tightening treatments?
Thermage FLX uses radiofrequency to heat a broad, even layer of the skin in a single session. Ultrasound treatments such as HIFU target smaller, deeper points, and some radiofrequency devices need a course of four to six sessions. At your consultation for Thermage FLX in Leeds we will tell you which approach suits your skin. We also offer BTL Exilis, which combines radiofrequency with ultrasound over a short course.
- Can I combine Thermage FLX with other treatments?
Yes. It works well alongside dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections and skin boosters such as Profhilo, because it addresses the firmness of the skin while those treat volume, lines and hydration. We usually leave a gap of a few weeks between Thermage and injectable treatments and will plan the order at your consultation.
