MICRONEEDLING IN LEEDS

Microneedling

Collagen induction therapy for smoother, clearer, healthier-looking skin.

Microneedling, also referred to as collagen induction therapy, encourages the skin to produce new collagen so that it becomes smoother, firmer and brighter over time. We offer microneedling in Leeds for acne scarring, open pores, fine lines, sun damage, stretch marks and uneven skin tone.

We use the Raffine microneedling system, a medical-grade pen with a single-use needle cartridge and an adjustable depth, so the treatment can be tailored to each area of the face and body. Depending on your skin, we may suggest a short course on its own or alongside a skin booster such as Profhilo.

Every treatment is carried out by a medically trained practitioner, and every course begins with a consultation. There is no obligation to go ahead, and if we think another treatment would serve you better, we will say so.

How microneedling works

A pen-shaped device moves across the skin while fine, sterile needles create thousands of microscopic channels. Your practitioner sets the depth for each area, usually between 0.5mm and 2mm, so the forehead is treated more lightly than, say, acne scarring on the cheeks.

The skin reads each channel as a small injury and responds by producing new collagen and elastin. The channels close within a few hours, but the repair work carries on for several weeks. This is why results build gradually over a course of treatments rather than appearing after one.

The channels also let the serums we apply during the treatment reach the deeper layers of the skin, where they do far more than they would on the surface. We choose the serum on the day according to your skin, whether the priority is hydration, brightening or calming redness.

Microneedling at Park Square Clinic, Leeds

Microneedling in Leeds is widely available. What sets one treatment apart from another is the device, the depth and the practitioner. Our treatments are performed by medically trained practitioners using a CE-marked medical device, and we adjust the depth and technique for each part of the face rather than treating it all the same way.

Your practitioner will cleanse the skin and apply a numbing cream, which is left to work for around 30 minutes. The treatment itself takes 20 to 30 minutes for the full face. Afterwards we apply a soothing serum or mask, go through your aftercare and, if you are having a course, book your next session. Most patients go straight back to their day.

Microneedling in Leeds for face and body

Microneedling suits most skin types and tones, including darker skin, because it does not depend on heat or light to work. We treat the face, neck, décolletage, hands and body.

Skin texture and scarring

  • Acne scarring and pitted scars
  • Surgical and injury scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Rough or uneven texture

Lines, tone and pigmentation

  • Fine lines and early wrinkles
  • Sun damage and age spots
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Pigmentation (assessed at consultation)

Body

  • Stretch marks on the stomach, hips and thighs
  • Crepey skin on the neck and chest
  • The backs of the hands

At your consultation we will examine your skin, talk through what is bothering you and recommend a course of microneedling, or another treatment if we think it would suit you better. Microneedling also works well alongside Profhilo or polynucleotides where extra hydration is needed, and with a medical-grade skincare routine at home. We always leave a sensible gap between treatments.

FAQs

FAQs

  • Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, uses fine sterile needles to make tiny channels in the skin. The skin responds by producing new collagen and elastin, which gradually improves texture, softens scarring and evens out tone. The channels close within hours, so the surface of the skin is left intact.

  • We apply a numbing cream before every treatment and leave it to work for around 30 minutes. Most patients describe the treatment itself as a scratching or warm, prickling sensation rather than pain. The numbing wears off within an hour or so.

  • For general skin quality, three sessions is a typical starting point. For acne scarring or stretch marks we usually recommend four to six, spaced four to six weeks apart, so that each round of collagen has time to develop before the next. Your practitioner will set out a plan at your consultation.

  • Allow 45 to 60 minutes, which includes the numbing time, the treatment and a soothing mask or serum afterwards. You can return to your normal day, though we suggest keeping it a quiet one.

  • The skin often looks brighter within a week as the surface renews. The changes that matter come from new collagen, which takes longer. Most patients notice an improvement in texture and scarring from four to six weeks, and results continue to develop for three to six months after a course. Results vary from person to person.

  • Expect the skin to look flushed, much like mild sunburn, for one to three days, with some tightness or light flaking as it renews. Mineral make-up can be worn from the next day. We ask you to avoid heat, exercise and direct sun for a few days and to be generous with SPF.

  • It is suitable for most skin types and tones, including darker skin, because it does not rely on heat or light. We do not treat active acne, open wounds, eczema flare-ups or skin infections. Your consultation includes a medical check so that we can confirm it is right for you.

  • For three days before your appointment, avoid retinol, exfoliating acids and sun exposure, and arrive without make-up if you can. Afterwards, keep the skin clean, use the aftercare products we recommend, skip exercise, saunas and direct sun for 48 hours, and wear SPF every day. We go through all of this with you at the appointment.

  • Yes. Acne scarring is one of the most common reasons patients come to us for microneedling in Leeds. The needling breaks up old scar tissue and encourages new collagen to fill and smooth the area. Deeper, pitted scars usually need a longer course. Results vary from person to person.

  • Yes. Microneedling pairs well with skin boosters such as Profhilo and polynucleotides, and with a medical-grade skincare routine at home. We plan treatments around your skin rather than offering a single procedure, and we leave sensible gaps between them.
